Design Challenge
#1: How might we keep our communities in Singapore safe and healthy during the global COVID-19 pandemic?
Project Description
Door hangers to be hung on the inside of dwellings, to remind people not to go out unnecessarily. Door hangers can have two languages, one on each side.
Criteria #1: Value
It serves as a reminder to Singaporeans not to leave their homes unnecessarily. The text is short and sharp – if you don’t leave your home, you mitigate the risk of getting the virus. It does not stop one from exiting the home, but it does remind one of the consequences.
Criteria #2: Inspiration
From hotel service door hangers, using the same idea of hanging at the door, to remind or to alert someone to a message.
Criteria #3: Impact
Whoever wishes to go out will have to do so through the main door, and will be confronted by this door hanger that is hanging on the handle, reminding one not to go out. It does not take up a lot of space or resources or even effort to hang this on the door. It is also easy to produce and does not cost much. Every household in Singapore can have one as a reminder for its occupants to stay at home.
Criteria #4: Timeliness
The door hanger can be produced easily, either on 3mm thick acrylic or on thick cardboard. It’s only one-colour printing.
Criteria #5: Systems Thinking
The door hanger serves as a reminder to the messaging that we should stay at home, to avoid getting the virus or spreading the virus.
