A personal protection aid that improves the safety and lower the cost during Covid 19 swab test sample collection.
Criteria #1: Value
Singapore General Hospital have introduce SG SAFE and SG SHIELD to prevent spread of the covid19 virus during the high risk swab test sample collection. However from their demostration I realized that as good as this invention is, it overlook the work conditions of the tester and the possible contamination the next patient might face. This invention is to cater to these loopholes.
Criteria #2: Inspiration
The invention fit a missing piece in the swab test sample collect procedure by protecting not only the tester but also patients from other patients virus. It reverse the thinking that personal protection kit shall only be given to the tester and not the patient. We should eradicate the problem at it source and use this low cost invention to complete the puzzle.
Criteria #3: Impact
Save cost by reducing the need to change PPE regularly. Save time as it ease the strain on the tester. Prevent accidental contamination and spreading of virus by containing droplets at it source.
Criteria #4: Timeliness
From the above points, this product ought to be launch immediately where millions of swab test are being carrying out. It shouldn’t wait.
Criteria #5: Systems Thinking
As mentioned the invention fit a missing piece in the healthcare system and is designed to work we a huge range of tongue depressor and swab. It will greatly complement the existing procedure and accomplish the 3 benefits mentioned above.
