Every1 Counts

Design Challenge

#3: How might we learn from COVID-19 to reimagine our future for life, work, learning and play?

Project Description

Part of the Every1 Counts campaign, this response for Design Challenge #3 is about coming up with a Facebook Community where we encourage everyone to share ideas that will help others, like them, cope with the challenges of Covid-19.

We will send out a spin wheel as an invitation to join the Every1 Counts Facebook Community group. This spin wheel has simple ideas on what people can do to “survive” the day at home, or make the most out of their free time, apart from information about the Every1 Counts Facebook Community group.

Criteria #1: Value

This campaign aims to connect the Singapore community and come up with a collection of ideas that worked for them as they overcome the challenges of living during the pandemic.

Via a Facebook Community Page, we encourage everyone, from various backgrounds, to share their tips on how they cope with:
– staying at home with their kids 24/7;
– handling home-based learning
– working from home;
– retrenchment and being on furlough

With this design idea, we let people know that we can all help each other in our own ways as we deal with our varied situations.

Criteria #2: Inspiration

A lot of people have Facebook accounts and join communities to keep abreast of on-goings about their interests and hobbies.

With this in mind, we thought it would be a great to have a Singapore collective and let everyone share their tips or activities they did to overcome their challenges during the pandemic.

The ideas shared will surely be applicable for others facing the same issues as we are all in the same community and have to follow the same rules.

Criteria #3: Impact

Our design proposal would benefit and add a meaningful value to the lives of the target audience (volunteers) and beneficiaries of the Every1 Counts campaign initiatives during Covid-19.

For this challenge, the Every1 Counts FB community page lets everyone help one another by sharing their learning experience as they cope with their situations during Covid-19.

Criteria #4: Timeliness

The Every1 Counts concept is timeless.
The ideas conveyed are applicable, during the early stages of the pandemic, and we believe these ideas will still be applicable in 3-6 months time. As we flesh out this concept’s through-the-line campaign, we can add on more initiatives in line with the essence of the Every1 Counts concept.

Production wise, as this campaign uses collaterals commonly used for publicity, we do not foresee any complications in terms of production and are confident in meeting the timeliness criteria. Timeline challenges may only occur should there be supply shortages or printing delays.

Criteria #5: Systems Thinking

The Every1 Counts campaign brings people together.
This objective echoes the call of existing programs and campaigns by Singapore government (Trace Together, #SGUnite) and various organisations as well.
