#3: How might we learn from COVID-19 to reimagine our future for life, work, learning and play?
Project Description
Empowering homecooks of different background, with food being the common language within out multi racial country. It is an app powered by the community. Opening up doors of neighbors, helping one another with lower cost of food, and uplifting the spirits of the community in crucial times like this during covid-19.
Criteria #1: Value
In times of covid-19, there’s a surge in food delivery apps such as Grab, FoodPanda and Delivery. However most, if not all are restaurants. Not encouraged to travel far for more choices of food, most singaporean are left with limited choices and pricey food.
Criteria #2: Inspiration
With people spending more time staying home, be it as a couple, individual or with family, food is generally always the topic of concern. We see more people trying to bake, cook and get their hands dirty cooking at home.
Criteria #3: Impact
Creating an app that caters for different personas, for consumer to have more choices of home cook food, masterchef inspired individuals, cook for the communities for lower cost that benefits the homecooks and consumer who are looking for lower cost meals without the hassle.
Criteria #4: Timeliness
2-4weeks – market research and analysis + design and tech foundation
12-16weeks – of design and development
2-3weeks – uat / beta tester
The proposed idea has the potential to be launched in the market within 6 months
Criteria #5: Systems Thinking
– Under HDB’s Home-Based Small Scale Business Scheme, it entitles and empowers individual the rights to carry out small-scale businesses (such as baking businesses) from home.
– Moving forward, homecooks can also attain certification with local institutes or adopting, courses, grant and certification with Asian Culinary Institute.
– Even with the surge or commercialized food delivery app, the nature of homecooks from a mechanism, ecosystem and personas POV doesn’t conflict with these big companies.
– Collection are made individually between homecook and their customers, there is no need for a delivery person as the proximity outreach of availability are within community distance.
